A Christmas Carol
Directed by Samantha Hindman
17th - 19th December 2021 @ 7.00pm
The Penny Magpie Theatre Company are a group proudly based in York, with the ethos of working with local/regional actors. We strongly believe that talent come from all backgrounds and are proud to promote working-class and/or actors from under-represented areas, and those who have never had the resources or opportunities to formally study their art. Critically acclaimed productions include ‘Edith In the Dark’ (2017), ‘Murder, Margaret & Me’ (2019) and ‘Shakers – Re-Stirred’ (2020).
This year we are excited to be working with the York Mansion House in bringing an exciting version of Charles Dickens’ ‘A Christmas Carol’ to their beautiful venue.
Adapted by director Samantha Hindman – but still keeping loyal to the story and true meaning of Dickens’ original – this wonderful re-enactment of the famous story of cold-hearted miser Ebenezer Scrooge and his redemption, as seen through the eyes of modern-day schoolboy Jon as he reads and gradually gets welcomed into the story by a myriad of colourful characters, is as heart-warming and uplifting as ever.
A Christmas Carol is being performed on the 17th, 18th and 19th of December in the beautiful setting of the Mansion House in the centre of York as part of a Dickensian evening featuring carol singers, mulled wine and mince pies and the opportunity to explore the stunning building before the performance.
Tickets are available from York Theatre Royal.
