With a unique history spanning almost 300 years, the Mansion House provides a spectacular, affordable backdrop for your wedding and civil partnership celebrations. We are venue hire only, allowing you to stay in control of all elements of your big day.

For your ceremony and/or reception, you will have exclusive use of York Mansion House - for celebrations from 2 to 100 people. We have a passion for delivering beautiful, personal ceremonies and stunning drinks and dinner receptions. We have a full catering kitchen and excellent relationships with our local preferred caterers, giving you the freedom to choose the menu for your taste as well as working with other suppliers to bring your vision to life.
We want your day to be just that – yours, so we treat your day as the unique event it is. Let us show you the beauty of the house and how your day could look. Get in touch and let’s start planning.
To allow you freedom for your special day and to avoid hidden costs, we operate as a venue hire only, and will happily advise you of excellent local suppliers. From florists to caterers, we have built strong relationships with businesses who know the house and understand what works best.
Choose from our Ceremony Only package at £450 + VAT or our full day Reception package at £1300 + VAT.

Food and Drink
Regardless of the size of your reception, we can work alongside your chosen caterer to help you create your vision.
We have a full catering kitchen and have hosted everything from buffets to banquets.
As venue hire only, we work closely with our preferred local caterers who have created wonderful menus through the years.
We have a full alcohol licence on the premises for the serving and sale of alcohol. Drinks must be provided through a caterer or other licenced vendor. We have good relationships with several bar hire companies and would be happy to recommend them to you.
We have flexibility to host your ceremony or reception at any time you choose, and will work with even the most last minute booking to make it happen.
While we welcome dinner and drinks receptions, due to the historic nature of the building (and our grand but fragile chandeliers!) we are unable to accommodate DJs and dancing. However, we can recommend some great nearby venues that will happily host an evening party just a stone’s throw away – think of the beautiful evening photos!
Planning and Event Management
As a venue-hire only building this gives you flexibility and keeps costs low to have your day how you want it. Perhaps you want to keep things simple? Perhaps you require a Wedding Planner to help with every detail or just see the running of the day, if so we can recommend wonderful Planners based in the region.
