York Mansion House welcomes visitors of all ages to enjoy the magic of this beautiful home. Throughout the year we offer a variety of free-with-admission and paid-for activities, which have ranged from an incredible Haunted House to a weekly story time, and we are proud to be recommended by the amazing Little Vikings.
We've a number of affordable ticket options available, including free entry for the under 5s, discounts for York residents and more. Find out more about admission to the house.
At the home of the Lord Mayor of York, your little ones will be welcomed as an honoured Little Lord Mayor, and invited to explore the house as though it was their own, taking the lead on their visit.
From the welcome desk, pick up a Little Lord Mayor trail, filled with puzzles, activities, treasure hunts and facts about the house and the people who have called it home. This is suitable for ages 5 and up – we know adults enjoy a trail as much as children!
During school holidays we run a variety of seasonal trails and activities, always revealing new secrets and sharing stories about mayoral life. All trails are included with admission, and information about our latest events can be found on our what's on pages.

Access and Facilities
We're proud to be fully accessible, with lift access and ramps throughout, as well as a step-free entrance. Inside, we have three large staircases, but our lift will allow you access the whole building.
While we welcome families with babes-in-arms and little ones in pushchairs, we unfortunately are unable to offer any storage for pushchairs during your visit, but we are happy to assist you as you move around the house with use of the lift. Due to fire regulations we're only able to have two pushchairs in the house at any time.
We have accessible toilets on the ground and first floor, and baby changing can be found in the ground floor toilet.
There are a number of seats available for use throughout the building, and please feel free to breastfeed wherever you feel comfortable.
We don’t have a café in the house, but our central location means we are surrounded by some of the best family-friendly cafes and restaurants in the city. You can find some great recommendations via Visit York.
School and Educational Visits
We welcome visits from schools, uniformed groups, home schoolers, lifelong learners, and we've developed an education programme to support all stages of the curriculum. Please visit our Learning pages to find out more.
